Serving Washington Health and UC San Francisco’s vision of compassionate care for cancer patients, ABA designed the renovation of spaces in an existing 3-story building to create a new cancer center that provides outpatient services including examinations, diagnostics, and therapy. Following conceptual planning work with the center’s medical directors to identify the optimal location for the center on the building’s second floor, we designed the center using biophilic (nature-inspired) principles to support a seamlessly efficient layout in creating a comfortable and calming environment for both patients and staff. The outcome is a 14,455 sf OSHPD 3-licensed facility divided into 3 functional areas – examination clinic, waiting/registration/blood draw, and infusion therapy/cancer treatment with a pharmacy that includes USP <797> and USP <800> sterile compounding spaces.
